starkBlog Add comments

If you visit my blog regularly (I can pretty much garuntee you, you don’t) then you’ll notice that I’ve added a few ads on here. Click on the ads and make me some money… please? Also, someone referred me to a cool site where you’re able to make some money by opening a browser window and letting it auto-refresh pages for you to look at. Basically you get $.45 for every hour the window is opened, and you get “raises” every now and then, upto $.75 an hour. If you’re interested, you can sign up here.

I’ve been updating the way starkBlog works a little bit. Instead of storing the username for each post, it stores the user’s id. This will allow for users to change their username from time to time, if they so feel like it.

I’m working on support for multiple categories, but it’s easier said than done. I have the table all setup to do this, I just need to code the admin panel and the display page to be able to use it. The release of starkBlog 0.4 will probably be awhile, as we’re constantly adding new stuff to it.

Personally, I haven’t had a whole lot of time to do the starkBlog updates because I’ve had to fix a few of my friend’s computers. I installed Gentoo on Jonathan’s computer, but I had to install it on the hard drive from my computer. This caused a few issues, but I had to do it this way because his computer wouldn’t boot from a CD, for some odd reason. I got it all done, put his hard drive back in his computer, but it wouldn’t load gentoo because the hard drive in his computer was /dev/hdc. I switched it to the Primary Master, and it wouldn’t even get past the hardware detection at boot. I went into the bios and it was defining what each of the hardware connectors were. I set them all to automatic, and it worked perfectly. Now I just need to setup his wireless lan, which is a hassle because it uses an external usb antenna.

The other computer I’m trying to fix is Robert’s, another friend of mine. He wants Windows 2000 installed, but for some reason the Windows 2000 install is seeing massive hard drives (2×80GB drives) when he has a 30GB drive and a 4GB drive. I have no idea what’s up with that, but I’ll look into it a little bit later.

Another project I’m working on, the Poipu Package Management Center is coming along pretty slowly. Mainly because I’ve been either busy with school, work, girlfriend, friend’s computers, watching tv, or sleeping. I’m going to get on it though dooky, I promise. Goodnight everyone.
